Overview of Integration

By integrating Starti with AppsFlyer, you can accurately track and attribute mobile app installs and in-app events generated by your Connected TV (CTV) advertising campaigns.

Starti sends CTV impression data to AppsFlyer through server-to-server (S2S) requests using your AppsFlyer OneLink template. This allows AppsFlyer to attribute mobile app installs to CTV ad impressions, enabling accurate cross-device and cross-platform attribution.

  • TV Impression Tracking

Starti captures when and where your Connected TV (CTV) ad is shown across supported regions. The impression data here is sent to AppsFlyer through the AppsFlyer OneLink

  • Install & Event Attribution

When a user installs the app after viewing a CTV ad, AppsFlyer attributes the install and in-app events using view-through attribution.

  • Data Sharing via Postbacks

AppsFlyer sends postbacks to Starti for installs and in-app events, based on your configured event mapping.

  • Attribution & Optimization

Starti combines impression data with AppsFlyer postbacks to attribute installs to TV impressions and optimize campaign performance.

Pre-integration checklist

Before integrating Starti with AppsFlyer, ensure that the following prerequisites are met:

  1. You have admin-level access to your app’s AppsFlyer dashboard.

  2. Make sure your install event is tracked with the Appsflyer SDK.

  3. Onelink with Cross-platform attribution is created

Integration Steps

Step 1: Activate Starti Partner

  1. Go to the Collaboration > Partner Integrations in the side menu of AppsFlyer.

  2. Select Partner Marketplace tag and search for and select Starti DSP

  3. Click Integrate and click Activate partner.

  1. Disable Advanced Privacy Mode for iOS apps.

  2. Enable view-through attribution.

  3. Enable cross-platform equal attribution priority and set lookback window to 6 hours.

  4. Under default postbacks, set installs to All media sources including organic.

Explanation of Key Fields in Step 1

  • Advanced Privacy Mode: Must be disabled for iOS to allow full attribution data

  • View-Through Attribution: Enables attribution for users who viewed but didn't click ads, which is necessary for all CTV advertisements.

Step 2: Set Cross-Platform Attribution Priority

Why This Matters

CTV campaigns rely on cross-platform attribution because users typically view ads on a TV and complete the app install on a different device, such as a smartphone or tablet. Without cross-platform attribution enabled, AppsFlyer cannot accurately attribute most CTV-driven installs and conversions.

  1. Within the Starti DSP partner settings, find the Cross-Platform section.

  2. Turn on Equal Attribution Priority.

  3. Set the Lookback Window. We recommend selecting 6 hours for the attribution priority look back.

Explanation of Key Fields in Step 2

  • Equal Attribution Priority: Gives CTV impressions the same priority as mobile clicks for attribution

  • Lookback Window: defines how long after a CTV ad impression an app installed or in-app event can be attributed to that impression.

Step 3: Set Up Event Postbacks

  1. Under Default Postbacks, set the following:

    1. Event Name: Install

    2. Send for users from: All media sources, including organic

  2. Enable In-App Event Postbacks.

  3. Map your in-app events to Starti standard events which are same as your AppsFlyer event name. Here is an example of what the event name mapping would look like in AppsFlyer:

Why "All media sources"? Starti requires this setting if the campaign goal is set to result optimization.

⚠️ Important: Save your changes after configuring the Intrgration tag.

Step 4: Create and Share the Impression Attribution Link

Make sure your CTV OneLink has been successfully created before you begin the integration process.

  1. In the integrations, select Attribution Link > Use onelink > { The links your create with Cross-platform attribution enable }

  2. Scroll down to View-through attribution and turn on Cross-platform attribution.

  3. Share the copied link with your Starti account manager.

Sample Impression Link Format:

https://impressions.onelink.me/{template_id}?pid=startidsp_int&af_xplatform=true&af_xplatform_vt_lookback=72h&af_siteid={site_id}&c={campaign_name}

Step 5: Grant Permissions

Make your AppsFlyer app visible to the Starti team to enable efficient support

  1. Go to Permissions tab in your app settings.

  2. Enable Ad Network Permissions for Starti.
