Set Up the Starti Web Pixel

The Starti Web Pixel helps you measure website visits and conversion events from your campaigns

Written by STARTI AI

Install the pixel on your website, then add the events that are important to your campaign goals.

Create a web pixel

1. In AI DASH, go to Tracking > Web Pixel.

2. Click Create pixel.

3. Enter a Pixel name.

4. Select the Brand the pixel belongs to.

5. If needed, add any Customer events you want to track.

6. Click Save.

Your new pixel will appear on the Web Pixel page with its unique Pixel ID and Advertiser ID.

Note: Standard events (such as "Purchase" or "add_to_cart") are already available in the setup guide. Customer events are only needed when you want to track an action that is specific to your website.

Install the base pixel

From the Web Pixel page, click Guide next to the pixel you want to install.

Under Add the base SDK snippet, click Copy code.

Add the base pixel snippet inside the <head> section of your website.

The base snippet loads the Starti pixel, connects activity to the correct Advertiser ID and Pixel ID, and tracks basic website activity such as session_start and page_view.

Use the code exactly as it appears in AI DASH. Each pixel has its own configuration.

If your website uses a shared header or site-wide template, you can usually add the base snippet there so it is loaded across the entire website.

Add conversion events

The Standard event snippets section of the setup guide contains ready-to-use code for common website actions, including registration, login, content views, checkout, purchases, subscriptions, and lead generation. All Web Pixel events are sent through the Starti client-side SDK running on your website.

Only add the events that are relevant to your website and campaign goals. For example, a purchase event can be sent after a customer successfully completes an order:

window.starti('track', 'purchase', {
order_id: 'ORDER-1001',
value: '129.99',
currency: 'USD'
});

Replace the example values with the corresponding values from your website.

Make sure each event is sent when the related action is successfully completed. For example:

  • Send register after account registration is completed.

  • Send add_to_cart after an item is added to the cart.

  • Send generate_lead after a lead form is submitted successfully.

  • Send purchase after an order is completed.

Customer events

You can also create customer events for actions that are specific to your website.

For example, a subscription service might want to track when a visitor selects a pricing plan:

window.starti('track', 'pricing_plan_selected');

After you create a customer event in AI DASH, its code will appear under Customer event snippets in the pixel setup guide. Use the event name exactly as shown in AI DASH and add the snippet to the corresponding action on your website.

Verify your pixel installation

After publishing the changes to your website, use your browser's Developer Tools to confirm that the Starti pixel is working correctly.

Check the Network panel

Using Google Chrome as an example:

  1. Open your website.

  2. Right-click the page and select Inspect.

  3. Open the Network tab.

  4. Reload the page.

  5. Enter starti in the Network filter.

You should see requests related to the Starti pixel.

Check that the pixel library loads successfully and that a page_view event is sent after the page loads.

You can open the request and review its details or Payload to confirm that the event and pixel information are being sent correctly.

Confirm the pixel status in AI DASH

After the pixel has been installed and starts sending activity, return to Tracking > Web Pixel in AI DASH. The pixel status does not update immediately. It should change from Inactive to Active within about an hour after valid activity is received.

Once the status shows Active, the pixel has been detected successfully.

If the pixel is still Inactive after about one hour, check the installation again using Developer Tools.

If the pixel is not working

If you do not see Starti activity in Developer Tools or the pixel remains Inactive, check that:

  • The base pixel code has been published to the live website.

  • The code is included on the page you are testing.

  • The Advertiser ID and Pixel ID have not been changed.

  • The base pixel loads before any additional event code is used.

  • Browser extensions or privacy tools are not blocking the request.

  • There are no related JavaScript errors in the Console.

After making changes, reload the website and test the pixel again.
